Renew Your Membership v DELETE

New starting 2014!

Membership is now aligned with the calendar year.  Starting in 2014, all new Pets and Friends volunteers need to renew at the beginning of the following new year.  See below for information on how this change affects current volunteers.

Sept Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug
First Year Membership Dues $50 for 15-16 month membership $40 for 12-14 month membership
All Subsequent Years (Renewal) $40 for 12 month membership (January-December)

New volunteers are unaffected by this change in renewal process as 2014 is their first year as Pets and Friends members.

Current volunteers accustomed to the old year-round system will be grandfathered into the new calendar year renewal system as “new” volunteers.  For example, if you joined Pets and Friends in June 2011, you would have renewed in June 2012 and June 2013.  In 2014, you will be treated as a “new” June 2014 member and pay June dues per normal.  Then, for 2015, you will begin the normal calendar year renewal cycle, which will always begin in January.

Why change the Pets and Friends membership renewal system? I liked the old way.

Pets and Friends strives to exceed expectations and provide unrivaled support for its volunteers.  To continue to support our large and diverse member base of over 200 volunteers and 300 facilities, it is necessary to optimize our limited administrator time.  The time commitment to identify, notify of renewal, and follow-up with 200 volunteers who all renew at different times of the year is a resource prohibitive task.  We ask for your patience through this transition so that we can focus less time on administration and more time on Pets and Friends activities.

What if I renew late?  Will my dues be prorated like they were for first year membership?

No.  It is your responsibility to renew your membership with Pets and Friends so that you may enjoy P&F member benefits and ensure that your insurance coverage is current.  You are encouraged to renew as soon as the New Year begins.  Only Pets and Friends members in good standing benefit from insurance coverage and Pets and Friends member benefits.

What if I join Pets and Friends in September?

If you join Pets and Friends in September or October, you will be both 1) rolled into the next calendar year and 2) receive an extended 15 or 16 month membership at the $50 rate.  This is for your convenience by allowing you to pay one membership due for an extended 15 or 16 months, instead of having to renew your membership after only 4 months (in January).

For example, if you join Pets and Friends in September 2014, you will be considered a paid-up member until December 2015 (16 month membership) – you will be treated as if you joined in January 2015.  When you renew in January, you will be rolled into the regular 12-month cycle at the $40 renewal fee.

I am a current volunteer who joined in August, 2013.  How does this affect me?

You will be treated as a “new” 2014 volunteer, and will renew in August at the $40 membership dues cost.  In January 2015, you will begin your calendar-year renewal cycle and renew your membership during January of every subsequent year.

I am already a Pets and Friends volunteer but I don’t want to worry about renewal in the middle of the year anymore.  Renew me now and get me fast-tracked into the new calendar year system!

If you are a current Pets and Friends volunteer and just want to get a jump-start on the new calendar year system, you can go ahead and click here to renew.  You will be fast-tracked as a 2014 member, and won’t have to worry about any renewal process until January 2015.
